Gavin Isaac Nelson, 13, of Lake St. Louis, MO, passed away on March 16, 2020. He was born April 10, 2006, in St. Louis, Missouri, to Zach and Erika (née Beine) Nelson. Gavin attended Wentzville South Middle School where he was an honor roll student. He previously attended Wentzville Duello Elementary and Fort Zumwalt Pheasant Point Elementary.
Gavin was a caring, funny, intelligent, and well-traveled teenager. He excelled in school and was planning to attend The Joseph Baldwin Academy for Eminent Young Scholars at Truman State University this summer. He loved playing video games online with his friends, watching The Office and Parks and Recreation, swimming, playing sports, visiting Hawaii, and being with his family. Gavin enjoyed weekly Sunday night dinners from Showok Chinese Restaurant. He previously played baseball, basketball, soccer, and took tae-kwon-do. He took guitar lessons and was looking forward to taking a piano class at Timberland High School in the fall. He recently attended Camp Ondessonk in Illinois. He was planning a trip to Europe to watch the Cardinals play the Cubs in London in June.
Gavin is preceded in death by his beloved maternal grandparents Gerald (Jerry) and Gillette (Jill) (née Titus) Beine of Florissant, MO.
He is survived by his parents, dogs Apollo and Luna, paternal grandparents George and JoAnn Nelson, aunts, uncles, and many loving cousins.
Gavin is deeply missed by his family. We pass along our gratitude to all those who shared love and support at this difficult time. We are thankful to all his current and previous teachers, coaches, and friends for helping to shape him into such a wonderful young man.
